Fort Wayne Metals receives Innovation Award from Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard and the Department of Economic Development.

Celebrating the innovative nature of the medical device industry in Fort Wayne, Mayor Graham Richard presented his Mayor's Innovation Award to Scott Glaze, the Owner and CEO of Fort Wayne Metals, in recognition of his company's patented technology for the production of medical grade wire.

Mayor Richard presented the award in honor of FWM's development of Drawn Filled Tubing (DFT^®). DFT combines two types of materials by inserting a metal core into an outer tube. The process improves the strength and biocompatibility of metal alloys used in implant procedures. DFT is used in lead wires for products such as defibrillators and heart pacemakers.

Mayor Richard's Innovation Awards recognize businesses that create or improve products using innovative research, development or engineering.
