FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 14, 2007

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne Metals, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality precision medical wire, this week announced its acquisition of coating line assets from Biogeneral. In addition, the acquisition included an alternate extrusion line for additional capacity to be used as early as August, 2007. This acquisition allows Fort Wayne Metals the ability to coat wire, strands and cables with a variety of melt processable fluoropolymer coatings, to include ETFE, FEP and PFA. Alternate coatings will be considered as well.

“We’re excited about this acquisition not only because it’s our first entry into a non-metallic base process, but more importantly because of the significant benefit it provides our customers,” said Mark Michael, president, Fort Wayne Metals. “Our customers will now receive coated wire directly from us, eliminating that extra step. It’s an investment that provides a real value-add.”

The biocompatible wire coatings, used primarily for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM), Neurology, and Temporary/Disposable Medical Device markets, are pin hole free, have thin wall coatings, and exhibit excellent dielectric strength to meet the stringent demands of its application in the medical field.
